Explore the backstreets around one of the Europe's oldest markets. This area is famous for herb and spice shops, where you can taste and smell traditional products like Greek yogurt, olive oil, tea, chamomile, and cured beef.

Walk over to the chic area of Aiolou, home to some of the best local restaurants in Athens. Try Greek meze, including ouzo or tsipouro, traditional Greek liqueurs. Dive into an enticing pastry shop to sample loukoumades. These golden donuts are unlike any you’ve ever eaten before, doused in sweet syrup and sprinkled with cinnamon and walnuts.

Listen to your guide’s entertaining and interesting stories about culture and daily life in Greece, and then head to the meat and fish market of Varvakeios Agora. If you still have room in your belly, it is the time to try souvlaki in one of the most traditional spots in Athens. Let your guide get in line for you, as you rest in the beautiful Agia Eirini square.
